Joe Cole to Stay at Liverpool?

After suffering a difficult first year at Liverpool, former West Ham and Chelsea wide man Joe Cole seems to be determined to put his Anfield nightmare behind him after showing glimpses of form in the two pre-season matches.

Cole, 29 is a big earner at Liverpool, reported to be earning £90k a week. Liverpool fans have not yet seen anything near his best form and many fans argue his best game was his first competetive Premier League game against Arsenal last season, (sent off in same match).

Today, Steve Clarke has come out in defence of Joe Cole insisting that the player looks fit and determined to get his place back in the team. Is this just a move by Liverpool to generate some interest in the player with the thought of selling him before the season starts or is Dalglish and the rest of the Liverpool hierachy willing to let Cole have another chance this season?

If the club does not sell, then at least there is another opportunity in January to sell the player in what Liverpool fans see another costly transfer mistake from former boss Roy Hodgson.
